This selfie of young man standing over a dead ex-cop lying in a pool of blood has circulated on social media one day after he was arrested in connection with the victim’s death.

The photo reportedly shows the suspect named Vivek standing over the body of retired policeman, identified as 62-year-old Shivraj, seen lying in a pool of blood.

According to local media, ex-cop, who came from the village of Gangannapet in the district of Adilabad located in the southern Indian state of Telangana, was killed on 6th March.

Reports said that the police believed the crime had been committed during a family dispute, and three relatives were detained including the victim’s nephew Vivek.

Vivek was a college dropout and the victim reportedly argued with his brother, the suspect’s father, over ancestral property, according to local media.

The pair met at a prayer hall with other friends and family members and a row broke out about the inheritance issue.

According to reports, the suspect attacked the ex-cop with a stick and the OAP collapsed and died on the scene.

Vivek reportedly gave himself up to the police and was sent to a pre-trial detention centre.

The following day, the selfie of Vivek standing over the victim’s body began to circulate on social media, according to reports.

The police are currently trying to establish exactly when the photo was taken and it could be used as evidence in the case against Vivek.
