This is the shocking moment onlookers scream as a passenger train collides with a huge bus carrying 67 people that is stranded across the railway tracks.

Police say that two people were killed in the accident that also left several passengers injured and said it happened because the bus driver had broken the law by pulling across the railway track without waiting for the roads to be clear on the other side.

Cops allege the driver clearly ignored signals and crossed over the railway track anyway. As a result of the way not being clear, he was unable to move forward when the train, that was unable to stop in time, came thundering down the track.

The bus driver, who has not been named, was one of the two people reportedly killed in the incident.

The incident happened near the Shamalgan train station in the Almaty region of Kazakhstan in the early evening on the Yekaterinburg-Alma-Ata road.

The President of the Republic, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and emphasized that an investigation had been launched.

He said: “My condolences to all those involved. An investigation has begun.”

The injured included at least three people, who were hospitalised, of which two were children. They are reportedly currently being treated in the central district hospital of Karasai district.

Despite the fact that the bus driver died cops are still carrying out a pre-trial investigation under Art. 345 h. 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is a breach of the road safety rules.
