This is the moment a man on a scooter ploughs into a toddler and sends him flying before fleeing the scene without stopping.

CCTV cameras from the town of Lugang, in Shantou City in South China’s Guangdong Province, captured the moment the boy – reportedly aged two or three – is sent flying from the impact.

In the footage dated 6th March, the unnamed suspect wearing a mask but no motorcycle helmet is seen speeding down the narrow side street when the tot suddenly runs out in front of him.

Apparently unable to brake in time, the man crashes head-on into the toddler who is sent flying before tumbling onto the ground.

But the scooter rider does not stop despite seeing the injured child. He turns away and continues riding out of the alleyway as the clip ends, the video shows.

The child’s family put out an online plea for the suspect’s identity or whereabouts, but local authorities reportedly captured the man the following day.

The boy was not seriously harmed during the incident, with the suspect having apologised and agreed to compensate the child’s parents, who are not believed to be seeking further charges.

Local authorities, who are still investigating the case, did not say whether they planned to punish the suspect further.
