Saudi Woman Accidentally Swallows Toothbrush While Cleaning Teeth

A Saudi woman, aged 20, has had her toothbrush in her stomach removed after swallowing it while brushing her teeth.

The unnamed patient was administered to the Al Noor Specialist Hospital located in An Naseem in the city of Mecca in the Saudi Arabian province of the same name.

The young woman told medics that she had swallowed her toothbrush by mistake while cleaning her teeth.

She said it became stuck in her windpipe and slipped further down as she attempted to remove it.

However, the 20-year-old woman ended up pushing the toothbrush further down until it went into her stomach.

Hospital staff carried out tests and scans before taking the patient into surgery.

Dr Mohammed Fawzi and his team successfully removed the obstruction from the patient’s stomach.

Hospital spokesperson Dr Motlaq Al Malki confirmed that the patient is still being cared for but is recovering well.
