Saudi Pilot Posts Scary Clips Of Screaming Passengers To Warn About Strong Turbulence This Time Of Year

A Saudi Airlines pilot has shared these terrifying clips of strong turbulence onboard several flights to highlight the problems of the polar jet stream at this time of the year.

Muhammad Al Shaiban, a pilot for Saudia, formerly known as Saudi Arabian Airlines, shared the clips on social media on 25th November.

He said the footage shows the terror passengers have experienced during several flights at this time of the year in the past.

The pilot used the videos to highlight the importance of wearing seatbelts during flights, especially if turbulence is expected.

Al Shaiban said the polar jet stream moving from the south to the mid-latitudes of the northern hemisphere, shifting from west to east at high speeds, affects the stability of planes flying above the 30,000 feet mark.

He added that the sky is typically clear at higher altitudes, making it more difficult for pilots and radar to detect its presence.

Al Shaiban said the turbulence will not affect the aircraft’s safety despite appearing strong in nature, but they could cause injury to passengers if they are not strapped into their seats throughout the flight.

The videos show passengers screaming in terror as the cabin shakes and items are sent flying. Flight attendants are then seen dealing with the large amount of debris and belongings scattered on the floor.
