A pair of rocking rodents staged an astonishing display when they took to the dancefloor in an impromptu display of fancy footwork.

The pair were recorded on CCTV in a Chinese sitting room performing while the homeowner was engrossed in his phone.

The pair first chase each other around the dancefloor, then they jumped up on their hind legs locked in what looks like a scaled-down Strictly.

But a man sprawled on a sofa in the room missed the entire show while watching something on his phone.

Another person in the room also missed the performance as she watched TV.

The CCTV footage was recorded in the Chinese region of Guangxi on 2nd April and has become a huge online hit.

One fan -‘Lychee or Orange’ – wrote: “Help, my heart stopped when the mouse jumped on the bed.”

The show only comes to an end when one of the creatures hops up onto the sofa behind the man and then runs off.

The videos gathered lots of comments on the social network Douyin – a Chinese version of TikTok – with most people describing them as mice even though they seem much larger.

Netizen ‘sandy’ said: “He must have trained them well.”

And ‘cook’ commented: “What about dancing cha cha in the living room?”
