Sao Paulo goalkeeper Jean Fernandes has been arrested in Orlando after his WAG posted tearful videos showing her bruises and pleading for help after he allegedly “got on top off her and punched her in the head”.

The incident occurred in the city of Orlando located in the state of Florida in the United States of America where Brazilian goalkeeper Fernandes, 24, reportedly hit his wife Milena Bemfica.

The video shows Bemfica speaking to the camera with several bruises and wounds on her face with signs of having been hit as asks for help saying: “People, I am in Orlando (USA) and look at what Jean just did to me.

“Somebody help me. Jean just hit me. Oh my God. Be calm mum, I am OK. But look at this. I want justice, I want justice! He is speaking at the door, I am locked in a bathroom.”

A voice can be heard in the background, reportedly Fernandes, saying: “Are you going to do the same thing with our daughter?”

Bemfica later published a post thanking her followers for the support saying: “Lots of people wrote to me worried about me” adding that “everything was okay” as she was in “a different place”.

Local media report Fernandes was arrested by Orange County Police after the video became public, however, it is unclear if he has been charged or if there is an ongoing investigation.

A police report says he was “arrested for battery domestic violence”, saying the goalkeeper “pushed her down on the bed” and “then got on top off her and punched her in the head (sic)”.

Brazilian club giants Sao Paulo released a statement yesterday (Wednesday) saying: “Sao Paulo announces it has made a decision about the future of athlete Jean Paulo Fernandes Filho after learning the details of the incident that occurred today.

”For legal reasons, we cannot take any initiatives during these current holidays but the club will take the appropriate measures as soon as they finish.”

Local media report the club has decided to rescind the keeper’s contract leaving him out of the club.

The statement went on to say: “Sao Paulo do not tolerate or accept the kinds of incidents that were reported today of violence against women.”

Local media report Fernandes was arrested by Orange County Police in the early hours of yesterday morning local time, however, it is unclear if he has been charged.

Fernandes has made 18 appearances for Sao Paulo since signing for them in 2018 and made six appearances for the Brazil under-20’s team.
