This is the moment Russia’s military ensemble sing about fighting coronavirus complete with a choreographed dance routine filmed in isolation.

The clip was recently shared by the Russian Ministry of Defence from the city of Ekaterinburg in the west-central Sverdlovsk Oblast region where artists from the Central Military District worked with civilians on the performance.

The video uses ‘Muzykantskiy spetsnaz’ (Musical Special Forces) by Russian artist Alexander Rosenbaum, 68, as its base and sees the military singers urging to citizens to follow instructions and rules for hygiene during the pandemic. Rosenbaum was a surgeon before launching his successful singing career.

The singers perform individually with their recordings being edited together to create the ensemble. The clip then features a series of civilian dancers who are seen performing in their homes.

The Central Military District ensemble was formed on 13th September 1939, and first performed on 4th December 1939, at the Sverdlovsk Opera and Ballet Theatre.

The performance comes after Russian pop artists recently joined together and urged citizens to follow hygiene rules with a challenge named ‘SingAndWash’. The artists danced to a song while washing their hands with soap to remind their followers to do the same.

According to the latest figures from the Johns Hopkins University, there have been 15,770 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia, with 130 deaths.
