This elderly woman mugged by a man who broke curfew to send her flying when he grabbed her shopping has died.

The video footage caused widespread outrage when the elderly ‘babushka’ was filmed being attacked by the young thug on Fayzi Street in the city of Kazan in the south-western Russian republic of Tatarstan, which has been on lockdown since 30th March.

As well as her shopping the bag contained a total of 6,000 RUB (64 GBP).

Locals shocked at what happened collected money to buy her some shopping to replace what she had lost and to leave her with supplies for the next few days, as shown in this video where she is signing for the gifts so that the paper can be shared with those who donated.

But tragically the stress of the attack, which left her confused and upset, was blamed when she had a heart attack and died two days later, and now the man allegedly seen in the video shoving her to the ground is being investigated on manslaughter charges.

In the footage, viewed 100,000 times on social media, the old lady appears to be pushing a bag in front of her as she approaches a building entrance.

She is then seen being bundled to the ground by the hooded thug who apparently takes her bag and runs off while she struggles to her feet.

Officers were reportedly able to identify the suspect from the images and they arrested him at his home. Local media said the suspect is a 32-year-old man who is known to the police for similar offences. He was not named.
