But his young wife Viktoria Burim who was waiting to hear that everything had gone well so Jenny got a call the next day some 10 hours after his death to inform her of the news.

The 25 year-old said: “We chose the clinic because you want to get rid of his snoring and were told that it was a simple procedure that could be done under local anaesthetic.

“However the doctors told us they need to do a rhinoplasty as well, which meant that they probably needed a general anaesthetic but they would give us a discount of 50 per cent on everything, and so we agreed.”

She said the clinic had given her 3 different versions of how he died, with one doctor saying he hadn’t woken up from the anaesthetic, another said he did that then died afterwards, and the 3rd saying that he had woken up and then pulled the infusion needles out of his arm.”

The official spokesperson of the medical institution, Marina Vogel, was quoted as saying: “After performing an ENT operation in the early postoperative period, the patient developed acute heart failure. Doctors carried out resuscitation in full, which tragically did not result in saving his life. An investigation is being conducted into the incident.”
