Two Russian cops have been arrested for hunting during the closed season after the carcasses of nine roe deer were found, as seen in this shocking photo.

In a statement obtained by Newsflash, the Investigative Committee said the dead deer were found near the village of Vorebyevo in the district of Chanovsky in the Russian region of Novosibirsk Oblast.

A criminal case was opened under the article ‘illegal hunting committed by a group of persons’, and investigators learned that the two cops began to track roe deers (Capreolus capreolus) on snowmobiles on 30th January.

Despite it being illegal to hunt deer at the time, the two officers reportedly shot at least nine dead.

As a result, the officers, identified as Vitaly Styazhkin and Pavel Deryugin, aged 29 and 37 respectively, were placed under arrest.

During a search of their homes, the police seized hunting rifles, snowmobiles, as well as bags of deer meat.

The Investigative Committee said the officers will be dismissed from their duties if found guilty and will be punished according to the law.

The Committee added: “Their immediate supervisors will also face disciplinary measures.”

The officers are reportedly being kept under house arrest as the investigation continues.
