This is the moment Russia’s new deadly war robot ‘Marker’ – developed by the same team that made the country’s first humanoid robot ‘Fedor’ – is put through its paces in the snow.

The combat robot, which looks like something from a Hollywood movie, was developed by the same team that made ‘Fedor’, Russia’s first humanoid robot that recently assisted an astronaut on board the International Space Station (ISS) after it was blasted into orbit on an unmanned spacecraft.

Fedor’s duties were supervised by astronaut Alexei Ovchinin and its functions were controlled by Alexander Skvortsov, who also works at the ISS.

Like Fedor, a team from the NGO Android Technology along with partners from the Roscosmos State Corporation for Space Activities developed ‘Marker’, which resembles a small tank.

The new robotic mini-tank was put through its paces at a test site near the industrial city of Magnitogorsk in the south-western Russian region of Chelyabinsk Oblast.

Military chiefs and a film crew observed Marker during a meeting for the Scientific and Technical Council of the Military-industrial Commission.

During the war games, the combat robot demonstrated its ability to operate in rough terrain and successfully eliminate moving targets, as seen in the video footage.

According to its developers, Marker can independently identify obstacles and select the best route to take without the assistance of an operator.

The robot can be deployed with other ground-based robots, unmanned aircraft and special force teams.
