This is the bizarre moment a rogue washing machine ‘chases’ after a pedestrian on the pavement.

The washing machine was on display outside an electrical store on Istanbul Street in the city of Duzce in the Turkish province of the same name when a gust of wind sent it whizzing along the pavement on 29th November.

Local media said the strong wind also uprooted several trees in the city that day.

In the CCTV footage, a man is seen walking along the pavement on his phone as the washing machine’s base spins on its wheels and follows after the unsuspecting pedestrian.

Shop workers are alerted to the runaway domestic appliance and one quick-footed employee manages to catch up to it and wheel it back to the store with the help of colleagues.

Gokhan Gure, the worker who ran after the washing machine and stopped it, said: “There was a strong wind in the city that day, just like in nearby towns. When the washing machine on display next door suddenly started moving on its own due to the wind, I ran after it.

“Moments before, a group of children passed by so I wanted to catch the washing machine to make sure no harm came to them. I eventually caught it and no one was hurt.”
