This is the moment a runaway lorry smashes through a playground before reportedly crashing into a nursery.
The incident occurred in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra in central Russia’s Tyumen Oblast region when the sand-laden lorry brakes reportedly failed.
In the CCTV footage, people can be seen walking in the playground when the lorry from a nearby road suddenly begins heading towards them.
The driver cannot stop the vehicle and it smashes through the playground as those nearby sprint to safety.
The lorry destroys some of the playground’s rides before crashing into the wall of the nursery.
A video taken in the aftermath shows how the vehicle destroyed the window and damaged the wall of the nursery’s medical unit.
Fortunately, no children were in the unit at the time. The driver’s state of health is not yet known but the local Traffic Police Department said none of the children or employees of the institution were injured.
Premilinary findings reportedly show the vehicle’s brakes failed.
Netizen ‘Marina Karabach’ wrote: “I somehow managed to throw my child away (from the lorry), and ran away myself.”
An investigation into the incident has reportedly been launched and the vehicle is said to belong to the city road maintenance company.
