Runaway Car Demolishes Electricity Pylon Sending High-Voltage Cables Onto Road And Cutting Power To City

This is the moment a vehicle being towed by a truck came loose and crashed into a high-voltage cable sending a massive pylon toppling into the road and blocking traffic in both directions.

The accident took place on Pukhivska Street in the Desnyansky district in the city of Kyiv, in Ukraine, on 12th June.

According to the Kyiv Patrol Police statement, the lead vehicle was towing a GAZ car when the towed car broke away and drove into the power pylon and significantly damaged it.

Police said: “Due to the accident, the live wires broke. Traffic was blocked in both directions.”

The network that was destroyed was the power for the left bank of Kyiv.

According to the local press, the repair crews expected to need two days to put the electric pole back up. It is not clear if there were any injuries as a result of the accident. The investigation is ongoing.
