This footage shows a squad of fully kitted Chinese paramilitary officers armed with assault rifles sent to kill an escaped buffalo bull after it runs amok and tramples a pedestrian.

The unit of People’s Armed Police officers with live rounds were deployed to the city of Chenzhou in Central China’s Hunan Province on 25th November.

Footage from the city’s Beihu District shows the runaway buffalo bull charging into the middle of a road and bowling over a pedestrian busy crossing the street.

The unsuspecting man is knocked to the ground and trampled over by the bull, with images showing him left with two huge lumps on his head and torn clothes.

PAP officers, who are primarily used for internal security, including riot control and counter-terrorism, reportedly drove it off busy roads and into the nearby tall grass.

Video shows officers kitted in camouflage uniform tracking the animal-like an enemy before taking aim and shooting it dead when given the order.

The authorities said several cars and two pedestrians were injured by the buffalo, which is thought to have escaped from a nearby farm.

Its owner, however, had yet to be found at the time of writing.

Members of the public commenting on the online footage did not appear to believe the use of force was excessive.
