Rottweiler Mauls Girl, 7, To Death In Virginia

A man has been charged after his Rottweiler attacked and killed a seven-year-old girl over the weekend.

The dog attack took place on Parker Heights Road in the city of Waynesboro in the US state of Virginia on 29th January.

The Waynesboro Police Department (WPD) said on Sunday: “The juvenile female was then transported by ambulance to Augusta Health where she would later succumb to the injuries sustained in the attack.

“During this attack, an adult female also suffered injuries. She was treated for her injuries and released.”

The young victim, name not disclosed, was taken to the Augusta Health medical centre in Fishersville, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The police also said that a woman was injured in the dog attack and had been hospitalised and since released.

A local resident who wished to remain anonymous told local media that he knew about the Rottweiler in question and had been warned by a neighbour to keep away from it, adding that it was usually kept in a fenced garden and he would occasionally worry that it might jump over.

Another resident said he had never seen the dog loose in the neighbourhood before, although he claimed it had been aggressive to him in the past.

Following standard protocol, the local police seized the Rottweiler and took it to an animal shelter.

On Monday, 31st January, Stephen C. Kachmar, 60, was reportedly handed a summons for harbouring a dangerous dog.

The investigation into the dog attack is ongoing.

The police did not identify the victim, but a GoFundMe page set up by friends and family refer to her as Olivia Grace Floyd (www.gofundme.com/f/hxfndt-olivias-celebration-of-life).
