ROOFLESS KILLER: Woman Killed By Bullet From Apartment Below

A woman was fatally shot by a bullet when a neighbour in the apartment below fired a handgun into the ceiling.

Alia Matti Balola, 37 – from Clemmons, in the US state of North Carolina – was found dead with a gunshot wound to her chest on Tuesday, 18th October.

The round had apparently passed through the ceiling below, up through her floor and then into her body.

Her downstairs neighbour – named as A’Monte Zariq Jones, 20 – has since been charged with first-degree murder and with firearms offences.

Newsflash obtained a statement from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office that said that as well as the killing, Jones has been charged with discharging a firearm in an enclosed space and discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling.

Jones was denied bail and is being held in a detention centre in North Carolina, according to local media.

The police statement added: “This was not a random act of violence, and there was no danger to the larger community.”

The investigation is still underway, according to Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough, Jr.

He added: “Any loss of life is a loss to our community.”

But the victim’s family is in a bitter dispute with police over their reaction to the first emergency call over the shooting.

The sheriff’s office insists the call came in at 9.15am on 18th October.

But the victim’s family say documents show deputies had been called to the scene of the shooting 12 hours earlier.

Alia’s former co-worker, John Hernandez, then told local media that authorities were dispatched directly to Alia’s apartment when she did not show up for work the next morning.

He added: “When she was bleeding out that night, when the police were knocking on her door, weren’t they supposed to open that door or break in to make sure she was not incapacitated or that the bullet could have possibly hit her spine?”

An autopsy that will hopefully provide Alia’s family with some much-needed answers will be carried out on 27th October, according to reports.
