ROCK AND A HARD PLACE: Worker’s Grisly Death When He Fell Into Stone Crushers

A limestone quarry worker suffered a gruesome death when he fell into a rock crusher and was halfway through the machine before his horrified workmates could turn it off.

Marcio Silva Viana died instantly when he fell into the crusher at his workplace in Cocalinho, Mato Grosso State, Brazil, on the morning of 13th November.

The admin and finance manager of the site later told Civil Police how Marcio, 40, fell into the machine and the lower half of his body was crushed.

His body was removed from the scene by officials and taken to Agua Boa – more than two hours away by car – for a post-mortem examination.

Civil Police will investigate the case, which they are so far treating as an accidental death.

At the time of reporting, Grupo Roncador – the agricultural and livestock farming group that owns the quarry – had not commented on the incident.
