This is the moment a furious motorist rains down punches on another driver who reportedly cut him off during a traffic jam as onlookers film on their phones.

Eyewitnesses caught the violent incident on camera with their smartphones in the Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur.

Police later arrested a 44-year-old man, driving a Perodua Axia car, who they said was the aggressor in the road rage brawl.

Officers claimed the man admitted what he had done and said he had lost his temper after the other driver cut him off in a traffic jam.

The eyewitness footage shows a middle-aged man in a black t-shirt and shorts march up to his rival’s Nissan Teana car, open the door and start hitting the other man.

His rival, who is also middle-aged and wearing a yellow t-shirt, gets out of his car to try to defend himself but the other man starts punching and kicking him.

The man in black then forces the other motorist to the ground, pins him down and punches him repeatedly in the head.

Eventually, the injured man manages to get back to his feet and they continue wrestling in the street as shocked passers-by look on.

Eventually, the man in the black t-shirt drove off while his victim needed treatment at the nearby Kajang Hospital for a broken nose and fractured wrist.

Police Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said officers identified and arrested the 44-year-old man after the video was shared on social media.

He said: “The suspect admitted he was one of the men depicted in the viral videos. He also said that he got angry after the victim jumped the traffic queue at a junction.”

The police investigation is ongoing but the arrested man is expected to be charged with assault.

The video of the violent incident sparked a lively debate on social media where some online commentators said it reminded them of a professional wrestling or mixed martial arts bout.

Netizen ‘Bryan Cms’ commented: “Wow, WWF live telecast”, ‘Marina Nasser’ said: “Oh my God!!!”, ‘Quek Kimnoy’ asked: “Where is the law?”, and ‘Adrhei Alexis Roslz’ demanded: “Send him to jail.”
