This is the shocking moment when a man saved his life by running from his would-be assassins, only to be knocked down and killed by a car as he fled.
CCTV cameras caught the drama as it unfolded on a street in Palmas, Brazil, on the night of 16th November.
Footage shows how 40-year-old Marcos Elson da Conceicao Oliveira was walking down the pavement when two men on a motorbike pulled up next to him.
The man riding pillion opened fire at him with a handgun at close range.
Despite multiple shots, Marcos amazingly managed to flee back down the street.
But the bikers turned around and went back down the road to pursue him.
When he spotted them a second time, he ran out onto the road.
But an oncoming car had no time to brake and slammed into him. Marcos was tossed into the air and landed on the tarmac with a sickening thud.
After seeing their victim splayed out on the tarmac, the bikers fled the scene.
Military Police quickly arrived on the scene and Marcos, whose nickname is Nego Tyson, was taken to Palmas General Hospital.
Local media said that before being hit by the car, he had taken bullets to the arm and leg.
He had sustained multiple fractures in the collision with the vehicle.
He died from his injuries in hospital.
The identities of the bikers and the motive for the killing are unclear.
The suspects remain at large and police are investigating the case.
