This is the moment a woman ends up on her backside after sprinting across the road as the lights were changing and running straight into the side of a moving Mercedes.

The incident occurred in the commune of Floresti, in the metropolitan area of the city of Cluj-Napoca in central Romania’s Cluj County as the 23-year-old woman, who has not been named in reports, ran cross the road near a set of traffic lights.

In the video, cars can be seen moving off at the lights when the woman starts running across the road on the left of the shot.

She runs in front of a white 4WD but does not see a silver Mercedes moving forward in the outside lane and sprints straight into the side of it.

She bounces off the car and falls to the tarmac in a heap as the female driver gets out.

Other onlookers come to help the woman who was reportedly injured and taken to Cluj County Hospital.

Cluj County Police released a statement saying the female driver of the car which hit the woman, 29 years old, was not drunk and was driving legally. 

The woman’s injuries are not clear.

The footage was shared on social media where netizens blamed the woman for her reckless attempt to illegally cross the street such as ‘Bogdan I.E. Eugen’ who wrote: ”Silly woman, she looks just like a character from Wacky Races”.

While ‘Raul Moldovan’ hailed the driver of the 4WD for avoiding the woman, commenting: ”Nice stop from the beginner driver of the Duster.”
