Reyes Grieving Son Celebrates Victory In Tears

The grieving son of ex-Arsenal star Jose Antonio Reyes has been seen crying at a match where he scored four goals and was crowned a champion with the Real Madrid youth team.

Ex-Sevilla superstar Reyes’ son Jose Antonio Reyes Lopez, 12, was seen crying during the last minutes of Real Madrid’s 5-3 victory over Sevilla for a LaLiga Promises match held at Abu Dhabi located in the United Arab Emirates yesterday (Sunday).

The victory crowns Real Madrid as champions of LaLiga Promises, an international tournament held for youth teams with players that are 12 and under.

The 12-year-old was seen trying to hide his tears behind his hands moments before the final whistle was blown before a manager approached him and tried to console him.

The aspiring professional footballer was also seen comforted by his mother on the pitch after he received his awards.

Local media report Jose Reyes Lopez scored a total of nine goals during the tournament which helped him be win the top goalscorer and best player of the tournament awards.

Real Madrid youth team boss Juan Carlos Duque spoke with local media and said: “It was a little difficult for him at the start.

“He has had some moments where he was very nervous during the tournament but after he was able to show his class.”

Jose Antonio Reyes Lopez, who is Reyes’s son from a previous relationship with Spanish pilot Ana Lopez, signed for Real Madrid’s youth program in June of this year.

Reyes and his cousin, Jonathan Reyes, 23, were killed in the crash on the A-376 motorway near the town of Alcala de Guadaira in southern Spain.

His other cousin Juan Manuel Calderon suffered serious burns after trying to save the pair from the vehicle whilst it was in flames.

Jose Antonio Reyes was the first Spanish player to win the Premier League with Arsenal. He was also a La Liga champion with Real Madrid and a three-time Europa League winner with Sevilla.
