A Soviet World War II tank has been put up for sale for over GBP 60,000 after being damaged in battle and painstakingly restored by its latest owner over two years.

The Soviet T-26 tank is advertised on the classifieds site Avito for RUB 6 million (GBP 61,317).

The seller, name not disclosed, who comes from the city of Krasnodar in the Russian region of Krasnodar Krai, called the tank’s restoration “the fruit of two years of hard work restoring the T-26 tank”.

The tank was produced in 1935 and took part in the Winter War against Finland between November 1939 and March 1940 after the outbreak of WWII.

During the Winter War, the tank was hit and taken out of use.

The seller, who said he is open to negotiating on the tank’s price, stated that all the parts are original, with a few rare exceptions, and two years of hard work has led to it appearing as good as new.

The seller added: “Its main advantage is that it is original. Suitable for both military-historical reconstructions and private collections.”

The Winter War ended in March 1940 with the signing of the Moscow Peace Treaty.

Despite the Soviet Union suffering heavy losses during the three and a half months of conflict, Finland ceded eight per cent of its territory to the Russians.
