The winner identified only as ‘Gato Solo’ was one of the two residents of the town of Glen Burnie, in Anne Arundel County, Maryland State, USA, that recently won the top prize.

He reportedly bought an Extreme Cash Maryland Lottery scratch card and clinched USD 100,000 (GBP 87,000) in his pocket.

This was his second win within the same year after he previously cashed in USD 30,000 (GBP 26,000) from a USD 3 (GBP 2.6) scratch-off.

He had reportedly bought the two tickets at Parole Liquors at 2125 Forest Drive in the city of Annapolis.

The 54-year-old businessman and regular lottery player said that he frequently takes breaks to play his favourite Lottery games as his restaurant is just next door to the retailer.

He explained that when he entered the store to buy a ticket, there was another person ahead of him buying scratch-offs

But as that person failed to buy the very last one on display, Gato Solo decided to try his luck with the USD 30 (GBP 26) game.

He then scratched off the bottom of the instant ticket and quickly scanned it to check whether he had won something.

After he realised that it was a winning ticket, he scratched off the entire game and collected his prize.

He told Maryland Lottery officials that he plans to invest his winnings in his restaurants and barbershops.

His retailer, Parole Liquors will receive a USD 1,000 (GBP 872) bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off.

The second USD 100,000 winner identified only as ‘Chapulin’, purchased his Extreme Cash ticket at Glen Burnie Mobile at 7200 Ritchie Highway.

The 34-year-old man did not reveal what his plans with the prize are but said there will be “a huge purchase” with his wife.
