This is the moment a tourist captures an amazing display of what many think are holy lights in the skies above southern China.
The holidaymaker – named as Mr Li in local media – told how he had been travelling across Sichuan Province when he came across the strange blinding halo.
The man parked the car and got out to take some pictures of the sea of clouds when the mysterious beams of light appeared in the sky.
He filmed the spectacular sight, which almost seems as if a divine creature was standing atop the mountain, and later posted the video on Douyin – the Chinese version of TikTok.
Many netizens referred to the mysterious scene as “Buddha’s Light”.
Some seemed to think that the vision was an optical illusion based on the man’s own shadow but others believed it was a genuine religious experience.
Others compared the light with Guanyin, a spirit worshipped as the goddess of mercy in China.
One said: “The picture seems to be that Guanyin came into the world, and the Buddha’s light shines everywhere.”
