This is the shocking moment a motorist overtakes several bikers on a mountain road and drives straight through the barrier and over the edge with three kids inside.

The accident was filmed on a tight bend on a mountain road near the city of Hangzhou in the eastern Chinese province of Zhejiang on 2nd January.

The footage was filmed by the helmet cameras of several bikers who witnessed the accident.

The video shows the driver, a father with three children, overtaking on a tight bend before apparently losing control and careering over the edge.

The group of bikers immediately stopped and went to check on the car occupants, seeing that the vehicle had landed on soft soil several metres below the road.

One of the bikers, named as Mr Xu, said there were four people in the car, a man and his three children, and that they only suffered minor injuries in the incident.

The motorcyclists assisted the family by getting their first aid kits and patching up anyone with cuts and scrapes.

The father told the group that he suddenly lost control of the car in the moments before it crashed through the road barrier.

Mr Xu said he and his pals continued on their way when they were happy the family was safe and other passersby had stopped to lend a hand at the scene.

It is unclear if any of the family members needed hospital treatment after being patched up by helpers on the roadside.
