Welsh winger Gareth Bale could be sanctioned by Real Madrid due to having “voluntarily given low performances” with the “backing of a collective agreement with La Liga”.

Spanish sports newspaper ‘Sport’ report Bale’s attitude and performances could be brought into question by the Spanish giants.

According to the report, Bale, 30, could be considered to have “voluntarily given low performances” for Real Madrid after being sidelined since October due to a calf injury he suffered playing for Wales in their 1-1 draw against Croatia last month.

However, despite not playing a single match for his club since 13th October, Bale has decided he is fit enough to play for Manchester United legend Ryan Gigg’s Welsh squad as they prepare for decisive matches against Azerbaijan and Hungary in EURO 2020 qualifying.

The report quotes an excerpt from a “collective agreement currently in effect between La Liga and the current union” which states “the voluntary and continued reduction in the performance of the normal or agreed upon work” of a player is cause for sanction.

If Real Madrid decides to carry out the sanction, there are two categories in which the actions could fall – serious or very serious.

If the Welshman is sanctioned for ‘serious’ infractions, the club could take a percentage off his monthly salary. Seven percent off the first 100,000 EUR (85,820 GBP) and four percent off the rest.

If his actions are considered ‘very serious’ the sanction could go up to 25 percent off the first 100,000 EUR (85,820 GBP) and 10 percent off the rest.

Real Madrid has not released an official statement confirming the reports.

Germany superstar Toni Kroos, 29, recently slammed Bale telling local media: “It is a little inconvenient when you go to your national team, then you do not play for your club.

“After that, you are fit to play for your national team again. Maybe this is not the best time.”

Kroos hinted Bale’s current woes with the club could be caused after he was nearly transferred to China in the summer transfer window saying: “He was already about to leave the club in summer.

“After these types of things, where they both seem to have moved on, it is difficult to return to normality.”

“Taking that into account, I have got the impression that he is motivated and has also had a few notable performances.”

Wales are set to play against Azerbaijan on 16th November and Hungary on 19th November.
