The USS Nimitz is a supercarrier of the United States Navy and the lead ship of the Nimitz class of aircraft carriers.

It is one of the largest warships in the world and the oldest American aircraft carrier in active service.

The ship was named after Commander Chester W. Nimitz, who was the Navy’s third fleet admiral.
