A 12-year-old girl made pregnant by her sick father has given her baby up for adoption to the woman who rescued her so she can “have a good life”.
The unnamed victim, now aged 13, told how she put her infant up for adoption four and a half months after giving birth in Sao Carlos, Brazil.
Her dad, who is also accused of killing the girl’s mother, is on the run from police.
The victim and her brother had moved in with their father after their mother’s death.
She told local media: “I went to live in a studio with him. One day I was sleeping and I woke up with a weight on top of me.
“He beat my mother to death with a stick. I thought he would treat me differently, that he wouldn’t do that to me.
“Like a dad treats his daughter with love and affection, I thought he was going to do that, but I was wrong.”
The girl was abused by her father so many times she lost count.
She said: “Oh, many times, I don’t know how many, but there were many.
“There was one time he abused me all night. Then he abused me from night until the next morning.”
The victim considered aborting her unborn baby on learning she was pregnant but eventually chose to carry it to term.
She said: “In the beginning yes, I wanted to get rid of it. But after the first ultrasound, when I heard the babies crying in the hospital, I didn’t want to abort it anymore.
“I said I was going to go for it, carry the pregnancy to the end.”
The girl was rescued from her father by a family friend when she was four months pregnant.
Following the risky pregnancy, she gave birth by caesarian section.
She chose to put her infant child up for adoption four and a half months later.
She said: “I want her to be happy, for her to have a good life, for her to study and be someone in life.”
The woman who adopted the infant is reportedly the same woman who saved the girl from her father.
The father is formally accused of statutory rape, false imprisonment, and abandonment.
His daughter said: “He is a monster. I’m disgusted with him. For everything he did to me and for beating my mother to death.”
