This is the moment a cute raccoon sticks its head through an apartment’s ventilation shaft and surprises the residents.

The furry intruder was filmed entering the home in a block of flats in the city of Vorkuta located in the north-western Russian republic of Komi and was later shared on YouTube where it has been viewed 65,000 times.

According to local media, apartment residents initially thought there was a bird trapped in the shaft, however the large furry head of a raccoon poked its head through the gap.

The raccoon tried to move around, but he bottom half of its body could not squeeze through the hole.

The cameraperson even tried to lure the mammal out with food which it happily devoured before disappearing into the shaft again.

According to reports, the raccoon, which weighed around 15 kilogrammes (33 lbs), was finally rescued by the residents in the attic.

Netizen ‘Aleksandr Shigolev’ said: “At least one bit of good news today. I wish this cute raccoon a long and well-fed life.”

‘Enot’ commented: “This creature is so smart. He managed to get to the shaft and interacted with people. It also spent a week in there, which means the raccoon has a great sense of orientation. Maybe he just felt bored and needed some adventure in his life.”
