This is the moment a young boy eagerly tries to open the doors to a freezer in a restaurant, causing the large device to topple over on top of him, but a quick-thinking waitress stops it from crushing him at the last second.

The incident took place in the city of Yinchuan, which is located in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, in north-western China, on 20th November.

The footage shows a woman walking into a restaurant accompanied by a young boy who rushes over to the freezer and tries to open its doors.

But because it is empty, it easily topples over, and were it not for the quick-thinking waitress walking nearby to serve food, it would have come down on top of him.

Thankfully, the waitress, who has not been named, is seen dashing in at the last second and uses the tray that she is carrying to push back against the freezer and stop it from falling on the boy too heavily.

She partially succeeds and the freezer topples over much more slowly than if she had not been there.

The younger woman who was accompanying the boy, neither of whom have been named, can be seen lending a hand to lift the freezer off the boy, who appears unharmed as he gets back to his feet.

It is currently unclear if the boy was injured at all and whether or not the device was broken. It is unclear if the incident is being investigated by the authorities and if the woman accompanying the boy had to pay any compensation to the restaurant.

It is also unclear if the restaurant will be held liable for failing to fix the freezer in place.
