Two Moscow traffic cops – officers Dmitry Budychev and senior police lieutenant Igor Pomytkin – were on a patrol when they noticed smoke coming out of an apartment building on Pionerskaya street.

They called the emergency services and initiated a clever rescue operation to save two residents trapped inside the block.

When they saw two men appear in the window on the 2nd floor of the apartment building they decided to stop a passing lorry driver and asked the driver to park the vehicle next to the wall so that the men could jump onto the vehicle.

The frames show as two men trying to save their lives first throw down some sacks of belongings before they jump on the lorry.

The policemen then reportedly helped the rest of the people leave the burning house.

Speaking about the later rescue Officer Dmitry Budychev told local media: “I could hear a man calling out for help from one of the flats but the door was locked. Then I decided to break the door and managed to enter the room where I saw an older man who could hardly move and took him outside.”

Irina Volk, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia told local media: “Thanks to the brave policemen the incident didn’t cause any victims.”
