This is the moment an alert cop at the scene of a traffic accident jumps over the side of a crash barrier when an out of control lorry ploughs into seven cars and an ambulance.
The dramatic incident was captured on camera in Xichou County in China’s south-western province of Yunnan on 1st December.
In the video, the policeman is seen securing and inspecting the initial crash site when an ambulance arrives to tend to the victims.
According to the police, the original accident caused a traffic jam which saw several cars stuck at a bottleneck.
However, moments after the ambulance arrives, the out-of-control heavy goods vehicle enters the frame at the top of the screen.
It pushes along a small car and waiting vehicles are swept away too as the lorry ploughs through the narrow mountain road.
The officer in frame spots an SUV being pushed towards him and saves his life in dramatic fashion by jumping over the nearest crash barrier, reportedly landing safely on the other side of the road as the camera is knocked over.
The authorities said the second incident damaged nine vehicles including the lorry and the ambulance.
Six people were injured, and the crash caused traffic on the road to close for five hours, they added.
It was still unclear at the time of writing what caused the lorry to lose control.
An investigation is ongoing.
