This is the moment a quick-handed shop owner seizes a bungling robber’s fake gun and makes him fall over a bin.

The foiled robbery took place at a convenience store in the neighbourhood of Jardim Amazonas in the municipality of Lucas do Rio Verde in the west-central Brazilian state of Mato Grosso at around 6pm on 26th January.

He announced the robbery with the gun in his hand, and the 50-year-old shop owner took several steps backwards before realising the weapon was fake.

The have-a-go store owner suddenly seized the thief’s weapon, causing him to turn and fall over a bin before being sent scrambling across the road.

In the shop’s CCTV footage, the suspect is seen approaching the store entrance with the T-shirt over his head.

He removes a gun-like object from his beltline and points it in the face of the heavyset shop owner.

The owner is seen standing next to a small boy, who runs to safety as the man then grabs the robber’s weapon and kicks him as he falls over the outside bin.

The thief crashes into a table and chairs before stumbling in the road as the stocky shop owner gives chase.
