This video – seen seven million times – shows a quarantined Chinese homeowner having lowered his pet dog from a residential block letting it walk itself with a lengthy lead before pulling it back up again.

The bizarre scenes now going viral online were filmed by resident Ms Lv inside her gated community in the city of Qiqihar in north-eastern China’s Heilongjiang Province.

In the video captured on 16th February, the pooch can be seen standing on the ground floor underneath its owner’s first-floor flat while its master holds it by a lead tens of feet long.

According to Ms Lv, 25, residents in the community have been ordered to remain indoors for mandatory quarantine amid a surge in the coronavirus outbreak.

Homeowners are not to leave their flats for any reason, with daily necessities having to be delivered to their doors.

However, the dog owner did not appear to want its pet to relieve itself indoors, so he lowered the animal from the first-floor balcony, Ms Lv noted.

As the video ends, the pet owner can be seen pulling the dog back up the side of the building using its lead and collar.

The pooch is not thought to have been harmed during the stunt, which Chinese media has described as ‘kite-flying dog walking’.
