These images of a loaf cooked with a sponge oven cleaner inside it were posted online by a man who allegedly purchased the sliced bread at a local store.

The loaf was bought by Valentin Dejenkov in the town of Chekhov near Moscow who shared them online.

He said that when he complained to the store about finding a product supposed to be used for washing dishes in his loaf of bread, they had given him a refund.

The images show the sliced bread in which the purple sponge has been cooked and then sliced alongside the bread.

The customer also complained to the company “Russian bread” that supplied the bread to the bakery where he purchased it.

A spokesman the company confirmed they were looking into it, and images caused heated debate among online commentators.

‘Maksim Bgat’ asked: “A quality sponge bread?”

And ‘Igor Kutsenko added’: “I don’t think it’s really satisfactory that they just refunded the money. What about compensation for the fact that he had to take it back in order to get the money? They need to be fined.”
