A two-month-old baby died when her dad hurled her through a window during a row with her mother.
Tiny Isabel de Aguilar Loesch was thrown out of the window of her home in the Tabajaras neighbourhood of Teofilo Otoni in south-eastern Brazil on the night of Saturday, 28th May.
She plunged five metres (16 feet) to the ground and died in hospital of severe head injuries aged just 57 days.
The police said that neighbours told them that the girl’s parents were having a row when the 26-year-old dad – not named – threw the infant out of the window.
Her mum, 36, told police that she does not live with the father and that he was visiting her home to see his daughter.
She said she was making rice pudding at the time and went to check the pot on the hob.
But when she came back, she saw her daughter lying on the street.
Police said the victim’s grandmother told them that when her daughter was pregnant, her partner had punched her in the belly and that the pair often argued.
The suspect initially fled the scene but later called the police and said he was sorry and wanted to turn himself in.
He was caught by officers but declined to give his version of events.
Isabel would have turned two months old yesterday (Monday, 30th May).
The autopsy gave her cause of death as traumatic brain injury.
The suspect faces a charge of aggravated homicide.
