This is the heartwarming moment a whole school lines the corridors and gives a hero’s welcome to a teary-eyed teacher returning after he was given the all-clear from cancer.

The surprise welcome took place in the Cemile Yesil Anatolian High School in the Corlu district of Tekirdag Province in Turkey.

Local media report Geography teacher Muharrem Poyrazoglu, was returning to work after eight months off to receive cancer treatment.

The teacher managed to beat the cancer and in the video he can be seen walking into the school with students lining the corridors on all floors.

The students cheer as Poyrazoglu walks in and release balloons to celebrate his return.

The well-loved teacher is clearly moved by the welcome and more students then appear with a banner in front of him.

Poyrazoglu cannot hold back the tears as he hugs his students and colleagues as they cover him in confetti and chant his name.

He told local media: “I’ve had many friends in my life. I want to thank to all my colleagues and students who didn’t leave me alone during this hard period of eight months. They sent me messages, and called me all the time. 

“I also want to thank my family and other friends who supported me in this difficult fight I went through. Thank you very much for bringing me back home. I love you all.” 

It is unclear what kind of cancer Poyrazoglu beat.
