This is the distressing moment a poor puppy watches as a suspected dognapper kills its sibling by swinging it by its hind legs and slamming the pooch’s head on the ground.

The surviving pup and its sibling had been left at home by their owner in Yangzhou City in East China’s Jiangsu Province when the two suspected dognappers arrived on a scooter.

The footage shows one of the men attempting to call the pups over, and he is later seen holding one of them in his arms as the other pup follows.

He walks away from the home and slams the pooch onto the ground, killing it in front of its horrified sibling who approaches to find its friend dead.

When the pup realises this, it appears to cower in fear and run away as the dognapper walks off with its brother’s carcass in his arms.

The owner of the dogs, who identified himself by his surname Yang, said he came home to find one of his dogs missing.

“They love each other and are always together,” Yang said, adding that he began searching for the other pup.

He added: “I finally checked surveillance footage and discovered the two men killing the dog and taking it away.”

Yang said the scenes left him “heartbroken”.

He has reported the incident to the police, but it is uncertain whether the dognappers will be found.
