Punter’s Amazing Win After Forgetting To Complete Lotto Buy

A lucky punter scooped an incredible USD 218,613 lotto win after he failed to complete an online ticket buy and finished it off the next day.

Amazed David Lewandowski had been trying to buy a ticket but did not finish off the transaction before shutting down.

So he tried the next day, 20th February again, and was astonished when he discovered he had won on the Cash 5 draw.

David – from the town of Mooresville, Iredell County, North Carolina State, USA – said in a statement obtained by Newsflash from North Carolina Education Lottery: “If I had paid attention and did it right the first time, I wouldn’t have won.”

Now David – whose win is worth GBP 181,391 – plans to use the cash to help buy an apartment in Puerto Rico.

Two days later the win he claimed his prize from North Carolina Education Lottery and went home with USD 155,762 (GBP 129,405) following federal and state taxes.

North Carolina Lottery said: “Cash 5 is one of six lottery games in North Carolina, including the newly added Pick 3 and Pick 4, where players have the option of buying their tickets through a retail location or Online Play, either through the lottery’s website or with the NC Lottery Official Mobile App.

“Cash 5 tickets are USD 1 [GBP 0.83] and drawings are held every night.

“The odds of winning a Cash 5 jackpot are 1 in 962,598. Wednesday’s jackpot is USD 110,000 [GBP 91,391].”
