This is the moment a 79-year-old Argentine woman celebrates her ‘coming of age’ party as her parents were unable to throw her a bash when she was 15 as is typical in Latin America.

Nina Silva turned 79 years old on 9th January, but she decided to use the occasion to mark her ‘quinceanera’, a coming-of-age celebration in many parts of Latin America that usually occurs on a girl’s 15th birthday.

Accompanied by friends and family at a venue in Ringuelet in the city of La Plata in the eastern Argentine province of Buenos Aires, Silva bopped the night away in a pink princess dress and tiara.

Her daughter Yolanda Luna shared footage of the event on Facebook which has been viewed by 46,000 people.

She explained that the idea came in 2019 when the OAP’s two granddaughters celebrated their ‘quinceanera’ and Nina revealed that she never had a coming-of-age bash and would love to wear dresses like the ones they had on.

Yolanda asked her elderly mother if she would like a party, and the 79-year-old woman said it was a good idea.

The birthday OAP got to select her outfit, shoes, table decorations and gifts and the guest list included her nine siblings, according to Yolanda.

She added: “Everyone told Nina that she appeared like a princess, that she looked fabulous and positive things like that.”

After the bash, Nina told loved ones that the event “is something I will always carry in my heart”.
