Priests Pour Holy Water On Roads From Van To Stop COVID

This is the moment bell-ringing Russian priests in the back of a van douse the streets with holy water in a bid to protect the area against COVID-19.

The incident was filmed in Svaliava Raion in the south-western Russian region of Zakarpattia Oblast, and the footage was later shared on YouTube where it has garnered nearly 60,000 views.

In the clip, a van is seen driving along a deserted road as a priest in the back rings a bell.

Meanwhile, another priest is seen spooning water out of a large basin which he then sprinkles onto the tarmac.

According to local media, Ukraine introduced restrictions on movement on 12th March which prevents gatherings of over 200 people.

Sporting events are currently going ahead behind closed doors and only with the permission of international bodies.

The first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Ukraine took place on 3rd March after the unnamed man returned from visiting Italy.

The country’s first fatality, a 71-year-old woman, was reported on 13th March in Zhitomir Oblast.

On 16th March, another woman died before her COVID-19 test results were ready, which later confirmed she had succumbed to the virus.

So far, they are the only reported deaths in the country.

As of 23rd March, there have been over 341,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 around the world, 14,760 deaths and nearly 99,000 recoveries.
