This is the bizarre moment a 20-year-old woman breaks into her own aunt’s home with the help of a locksmith in order to rob it of cash.

The unusual burglary was carried out at a flat in Istanbul, Turkey, on Saturday, 4th December, after Teberik Canoglu, 61, had left home that evening.

Security camera footage shows how petite blonde Selin Su Canoglu gained access to her aunt’s apartment with the help of a locksmith.

After entering the flat, she then grabbed TRY 20,000 (GBP 870) in cash and fled the scene, local media reported.

Victim Teberik was shocked to return home to find her front door ajar and her cash missing.

She called police, who went to the scene, seized the security camera footage, and began to interview residents of the block.

They quickly found out that Selin Su Canoglu had claimed to her aunt’s neighbours that she had left her mobile phone inside the flat.

Officers arrested the young woman the next day and took her to the police station for questioning.

She admitted to her actions but reportedly claimed she had consumed alcohol shortly before the events.

She also repeated the claim that she had called a locksmith to get into the flat because she had left her phone inside.

She has now been charged by prosecutors with theft, burglary, and property damage and has been released on bail as she awaits trial.
