This pretty, 23-year-old nurse has been fatally hit by a digger scoop in a freak accident while walking to a hospital for her first day of work.

The victim has been named as emergency medical technician Ceylan Oner, 23, and she was fatally struck by the digger in the city of Hakkari, which is located in Hakkari Province in south-eastern Turkey recently.

She had reportedly been waiting 13 months to be appointed to her new job, and she was on her way to work when she got caught under the scoop of a mechanical digger that was clearing snow away. It is understood that the digger bucket struck her as she was walking past it.

Police and medics were called to the scene, but they could only declare the young woman dead.

The young woman’s body was taken to a morgue for a forensic examination and the digger operator was detained. It is currently unclear if the digger operator, who has not been named, has been charged.

Following an autopsy, the young woman’s body was sent to her hometown in Mardin Province in south-eastern Turkey so she can be buried by her family and friends today (3rd February).

Images of the incident shows the young woman’s lifeless body on the ground while a fellow healthcare worker can be seen crouching nearby.

Netizens have begun calling for a medical institution to be named after Ceylan Oner, in a bid “to keep her name alive”.
