This pretty Russian mother whose hands were hacked off by her husband with an axe has now officially launched her autobiography.
Margarita Grachyova, 26, had her hands hacked off by her husband Dmitry, from Serpukhov in Moscow Oblast in western Russia, in December 2017 after he accused her of being unfaithful.
Her left hand was sewn back on after the attack while her right hand is now what has been dubbed a “bionic arm”.
She has now officially released her autobiography entitled ‘Happy Without Hands’.
Speaking about her recovery from the shocking attack, she said: “I admit it is still hard to walk on the street, especially during the summertime when people are wearing so little clothing as everybody would turn around to look at me.”
She added: “We simply shared a flat. We would get home from work, eat, and would go to bed. Everyone was occupied with their own things.I decided that it was time for us to divorce in autumn (2017). I did not want to deprive my children of their father and thought that we would raise them together, as loving parents.”
The moment she told Dmitry about her plans, she says her life turned into a living hell, adding:“He got mad for me doing my nails, he suspected me of different things when I’d wear underwear matching in colour. He was angry that I got a promotion at work.”
She says some people now walk up to her and shake her prosthetic arm.
The mother-of-two says that she feels happy now, but claims there are a lot of flaws in Russia’s support system dedicated to disabled people and hopes that things will change soon.
Her husband was handed a 14-year jail sentence for the attack.
Netizen ‘natalochkaserdobintseva’ said: “You are soooo cool. Wishing you lots of happiness and health. Both to you and your children.”
While ‘karinna_klimova’ added: “Congratulations! You are unbelievable. Have been following you from the very beginning.”
