Pretty Influencer Accuses Son Of Governor Famously Jailed For Blasphemy Of Assault

A pretty influencer has accused the son of the former governor of Jakarta, who was famously convicted of blasphemy in 2017, of assault after she posted a photo of her cut legs to Instagram.

Indonesian influencer Ayu Thalia, who boasts 60,000 followers on Instagram, posted a photo of her scratched legs to Stories on the night of Monday, 30th August.

The photo is believed to show the aftermath of an alleged assault at the hands of her boyfriend, 22-year-old Nicholas Sean Purnama, who is the eldest son of the former governor of Jakarta.

Ayu, 25, reported the assault to the police in the precinct of Penjaringan in the administrative city of North Jakarta on Friday, 27th August.

According to reports, the assault took place outside a local luxury car showroom, which is believed to be Prestige Motorcars, which Ayu lists in her Instagram bio as her implied workplace.

In the written police report, Ayu stated: “At the time I was in my office at the showroom, and then the perpetrator approached me to discuss my relationship with him.

“And then the perpetrator told me to get in his car, so I went with the perpetrator and we had a chat in the car. The perpetrator told me I broke his heart and he did not wish to see me again, and the perpetrator pushed me out of the car, after which I fell and got injured.”

The suspect’s lawyer, Ahmad Ramzy, has denied the allegations against his client and said that his client and the complainant have never been in a romantic relationship.

However, at least one of Ayu’s photos on her Instagram page shows the influencer posing with the former governor’s son.

According to local law, the maximum punishment for assault is two years and eight months in prison.

The suspect’s father is Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, who was the governor of Jakarta (2020 population 10,562,088) from 19th November 2014 to 9th May 2017.

Nicknamed ‘Ahok’, he was known for being a Christian governor in a Muslim-majority country, and he was often subjected to racist abuse for being of Chinese descent.

He was famously accused of blasphemy in October 2016 when his political rivals aligned themselves with Islamic extremists ahead of the 2017 gubernatorial election.

The North Jakarta District Court sentenced him to two years in prison on 9th May 2017 for blasphemy and inciting violence, with critics of the decision calling the charges trumped-up.

He was released from prison on 24th January 2019, and he currently serves as the President Commissioner of PT Pertamina, the state-owned oil and natural gas corporation.
