This pretty 21-year-old woman has been stabbed 35 times in front of her four-year-old son and her boyfriend has been arrested.
It is believed he committed the murder before allegedly stealing her Christmas money and booze.
Florencia Ovejero was stabbed 35 times in front of her four-year-old son in her house in Grand Bourg in the Malvinas Argentinas Partido, in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires and her boyfriend Lucas Ezequial Borrachia, 21, has been arrested.
The victim’s brother Daniel says he and his mother had gone to their sister’s house as she had not answered them. He said: “We saw the boy behind the window of the living room covered in blood and crying out and we asked him to open the window. He told us that Lucas had taken a knife and started to ‘hit’ his mum, and that she was sleeping.”
They found the victim lying between the bed and the wardrobe and Daniel says when he hugged her his fingers slipped into her wounds.
Prosecutor Martin Viscovich said autopsy results showed that the woman had stabbed 35 times in the “head, neck, chest and arms, where there are also injuries of self-defence”.
Suspect Borrachia was arrested in a hotel in the city where he had reportedly been hiding.
According to police sources, “he was hidden, but the fact his picture was being shared by local media made the manager of the hotel recognise him and deliver him to the police”.
The suspect reportedly had bandages on a cut to his hand reportedly sustained during the attack. He was identified by a tattoo on his arm reading “Flor te amo” (‘Flor I live you’), according to reports.
The victim’s family said the suspect had fled the house after the crime, allegedly stealing money and items the victim had bought for Christmas.
The victim’s brother Daniel said “he took more than 25,000 ARS (320 GBP) and the drinks bought for Christmas, such as champagne, meat and milk for her son”.
Daniel said the suspect had not been reported for domestic violence but was suffering from a bipolar mental issue.
Judicial sources reported to local media that the case has been classified as “femicide” and carries a life sentence.
The investigation is ongoing and the suspect, who is not the father of the child, has reportedly refused to give a statement.
No motive has been provided for the crime.
