This footage shows metal poles rammed into a bus and impaled in the cab after its driver claimed it became “possessed” and went out of control.

Bus operator Ms Zhang, from the city of Yangzhou in East China’s Jiangsu Province, careered through a set of 12 traffic dividers on 10th November while attempting a left turn through a junction.

Authorities in Yangzhou’s Jiangdu District said the vehicle was not occupied at the time, and that Ms Zhang was luckily able to react in time as the three large metal poles shot into the bus cabin.

Footage supplied by local police shows the thick poles, which act as lane dividers and crash attenuators, having impaled the bus from the outside and now resting on top of the driver’s seat where Ms Zhang was located.

She was reportedly able to dodge the poles in time as they threatened to impale her, escaping with minor injuries to her legs.

The police say the crash happened as Ms Zhang was turning left through a crossroads, with traffic officer Luo Chun saying the operator “mishandled” the vehicle, causing the crash which resulted in no other injuries.

Ms Zhang, however, said she lost control of her steering wheel and her brakes were unresponsive after the vehicle became “possessed”.

Officer Luo said Ms Zhang appeared “shaken” and was taken away for treatment.

The crash is still being investigated.
