This is the moment an abandoned dog chases after a car containing a family who had reportedly dumped it on the streets shortly before.

The incident took place in the municipality of Coyoacan, in Mexico City, the Mexican capital, and was shared by Facebook user ‘Josu Coria’ who says he saw the pooch being abandoned.

He shared the video online where it has received over 288,000 views and he added the message: “I was walking my dogs when this dog was abandoned by this lady and her daughter. Before I recorded this the dog was running behind the car, and you can clearly see the dog wants to get into the car but they just ignore it”.

In the video, the dog, which appears to be a German Shepherd, is walking in the middle of a road in front of a grey car containing two women.

The pooch walks up to the car and the driver then sets off with the poor dog sprinting after the vehicle.

The video has caused outrage among netizens, such as ‘Josu’ who wrote: ”I hope with all my heart, dog, that someone with a big heart gives you water or offers you a blanket as a bed, and when you wake up, you will be wagging your tail and well fed. I hope you find your family soon.”

While ‘Ximena Gutierrez’ added: “Son of a b*tch, you should respect the dog.”

Local media report the authorities have confirmed that they are investigating the case in order to find those who abandoned the dog. No arrests have been reported and it is unclear if the dog was rescued or reunited with its owners.
